When it comes to doing research and finding scholarly articles, the library’s databases are a great place to start. • Be sure to reach out to your instructors. Talk with (and listen to) your instructors. They have had a variety of experiences, and you can learn a lot from them. 
• Don’t be afraid to talk with your classmates too. Strike up a conversation with your fellow classmates, and you may learn that you all live in the same town or neighborhood and can carpool. Perhaps you and your classmates can set up a study group, or just encourage one another as you prepare for a practical exam or a tough quiz. 

Oh the Places You’ll Go. . .When You Prepare and Plan Ahead

Welcome to the summer 2018 quarter at Sullivan University. With your pencils sharpened and your notebooks and binders fresh and ready to be filled, here are some tips to help you have a successful quarter. 

What is one of the first items needed to begin a journey? A map of course.

As you can see, rooms beginning with the number one (e.g. 133, 141) are on the first floor and  rooms beginning with the number two (e.g. 200, 238) are on the second floor.

The Sullivan Lexington campus has two parking lots for your convenience. The main lot is behind the Sullivan building, and the Burbank lot is across the street. A shuttle transports students from the Burbank lot and Sullivan student housing to the campus.

Mr. Larry McCarty, pictured below, manages the shuttle service, and he and his staff will gladly get you to your vehicle.

A zebra and an orangutan like underwear a lot. When they meet Bismark Buffalo and find out that he does not like underwear, they do what they can to change his mind about underclothes.

A Ball for Daisy by Chris Raschka; JF R

This wordless, Caldecott medal-winning book is about what happens to a dog whose ball gets destroyed.

Toy Boat by Randall de Seve and illustrated by Loren Long

Find out what happens when a toy boat floats away from its owner and goes out to sea.

First Day Jitters

Ally-Saurus and the First Day of School by Rich Torrey. Call number: JF T
Ally-Saurus loves dinosaurs and is ready for school.

Oh No! by Mac Barnett and illustrated by Dan Santat. Call number: JF S
A science project gone bad, very bad, is the subject of this humorous picture book.

Bedhead by Margie Palatini. Call number: JF P
Not only does Oliver have bed hair, he has school pictures at school today.

Butterflies in My Stomach and Other School Hazards by Serge Bloch. Call number: JF B
Idioms, like butterflies in my stomach, make sense to adults, but sound creepy to the children in this book. Author and illustrator Serge Bloch makes the idioms less frightening with his humorous illustrations.

First Day Jitters by Julie Danneberg and illustrated by Judy Love. Call number: JF D
The main character in this book does not want to get out of bed and go to school, but she knows that she is supposed to. Readers will be treated to a surprise at the end of the story.

Don't Forget to Take the Survey!
