Idioms, like butterflies in my stomach, make sense to adults, but sound creepy to the children in this book. Author and illustrator Serge Bloch makes the idioms less frightening with his humorous illustrations.

First Day Jitters by Julie Danneberg and illustrated by Judy Love. Call number: JF D
The main character in this book does not want to get out of bed and go to school, but she knows that she is supposed to. Readers will be treated to a surprise at the end of the story.
