Harriet Tubman, “Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”
Ms. Tubman was born Araminta Ross. During her lifetime, Ms.
Tubman served as a conductor on the Underground Railroad and led more than 100 people
to their freedom. Ms. Tubman also worked as a nurse and a spy during the Civil
War and fought for equality for African Americans and women. The U.S. Treasury
Department announced in 2016 that it would place Harriet Tubman’s image on the
$20.00 bill in the future.
